How to Burn Your Candle The Right Way
Okay, so this is going to be a very simple post, but a very important post.
It will be a little different from most of my other posts because in this one I am going to mainly talk about how to burn your candle to avoid tunneling or burning uneven.
If you have just found a new passion for burning candles, there are some things you need to know to help you get the most out of your candles.
1. The First Burn is the Most Important Burn
When you first light your candle, you wanna make sure that you have enough time to be able to sit, relax, and let the candle burn for at least 2 hours.
If you can't sit for 2 hours then at least enough time for the entire top layer of the wax to melt and form a pool.
This will guarantee that when your candle dries after blowing it out, it will dry evenly thus allowing a nice and even burn the next time you light it.
2. Don’t Burn For Too Long
I know the candle smells amazing, and you wish you could just burn it all day but trust me it will last longer if you don’t.
Typically, you wanna burn your candle anywhere between 2-4 hours at a time, and try to burn it only once every 24 hours.
This helps to make sure that; one you get that even burn every time you light it, and two you don’t get that ugly little mushroom on the top of the wick.
3. Trim Your Wick
You should also be trimming your wicks to 1/8 inch before burning every single time.
Just make it a habit to trim before lighting to avoid high flames and the wick eventually tipping over until it falls into the wax and then you can never light it again.
Trust me, I’ve seen this happen. Not a pretty sight and unbelievably frustrating.
But anyway, I hope this helps!
Let me know in the comments below if I left anything out!
As always with love,
