How Deep Breathing Exercises Can Help You Relax When You're Feeling Overwhelmed

As simple as it sounds. Deep breathing actually has a huge impact on your stress.

Don’t believe me?

If you really think about your normal day.

Often times you walk around taking short and shallow breaths.

Now, that may not seem like a big deal at the moment,

But these short and shallow breaths have a huge impact on your energy levels and your stress over time.

Your body and your brain just aren’t getting enough oxygen throughout the day.

This then causes low energy levels and eventually more stress.

In this blog post, I’m gonna talk about how you can use essential oils and meditation to practice deep breathing and decompress when you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Let’s dive in!

Meditation

I honestly can’t stress enough just how important practicing meditation is.

If you have been following my blog, then you’ll know I talk about meditation in about 75% of my blog post.

I’m sure you’re probably getting tired of hearing about it right now, but it is honestly the key to relaxation.

The most important thing I want you to practicing during your meditation is your breathing.

This mantra I got from Thich Nhat Hanh has stuck with me since I started reading his books.

The next time you sit down for your morning meditation, recite this mantra:

Breathing in “Calm Body” Breathing out “Smile”

Breathing in “Dwelling in the present moment” Breathing out “I know this is a wonderful moment”

This mantra not only helps you stay grounded and living in the moment.

But it also helps you focus on your breathing. After a while, you’ll start to notice yourself slowing down and taking long and deep breaths.

Now there are some other breathing techniques as well (which I may create a blog post about later)

But for now, try this one.

Burn a Eucalyptus & Peppermint Candle

Eucalyptus is known for helping with your sinuses when you're feeling congested (which of course ties directly to your breathing).

But with the combination of eucalyptus, peppermint, and meditation.

You get an abundance of benefits all at once.

Try burning a eucalypts & peppermint candle while you meditate to help decongest when you’re feeling blah.

This will help you clear those airways so that you can get more oxygen to your brain.

And if your not congested, no worries.

Burning a Eucalyptus and peppermint candle also helps by providing you with more mental clarity when your brain is feeling foggy.

Give this combination a try and don’t forget to really focus on your breathing.

We are constantly in a rush all the time. Take some time to give your mind and body a break every once in a while.

Got any other breathing techniques you wanna share?

Let me know below in the comments.

As always with love,

Steven
