How Aromatherapy Can Help You Decompress After a Long & Stressful Day

We all have them. Those days where it just seems like everything is going wrong (or at least we believe it is).

One thing after another just seems to keep popping up.

You solve one problem, and then 3 more pop up.

This is the kind of day I had yesterday and man, oh man did I just want to give up.

But if you always quit when things get tough, then you’ll never be able to accomplish anything.

You’ll always be jumping around from job to job, project to project, looking for something easier.

But you’ll never find it.

Life is challenging and anything worth having doesn't come without a challenge.

You’ll find that in whatever profession you decide to go into, you’re gonna be faced with adversity.

The key to getting through them is to make time to relax and decompress on a daily basis.

So that when something does come up, you will already be calm instead of on edge.

In this blog post, I am going to talk about how using lavender essential oil (combined with some other daily routines) can help you decompress after a long & stressful day so that you can come back stronger the next day.

So let’s get to it!

How To Relax When Feeling Stressed Out

I would like to start off by saying that if you don’t make time to relax and you’re all work work work then its easier to feel overwhelmed and just want to give up when things get tough.

Stress is the ultimate enemy and I wanna help you kick its ass.

Aromatherapy is amazing when it comes to helping you wind down after a long day.

But I have found it to be more beneficial when I combine it with other relaxing routines.

Just as a heads up, not everything on this list is going to be for everyone.

But at the same time, you’ll never know unless you try.

So all I ask is that you try each one for at least 2-4 days to see which one works best for you.

If it does then nice you found a daily routine to help you relax. If not then just move on to the next one to see if it works better for you.

1. Lavender + Reading

Now I know for some, reading may seem like a daunting task or more like a chore.

I know I used to feel the same way about reading. It wasn’t until I got older until I really started to enjoy it.

I prefer reading a good book over watching TV any day.

Combining aromatherapy with a good book at the end of the day really helps to take your mind off of work and allow you to just relax.

The next time you have a long and hectic day, try burning a lavender candle with some spa-like relaxing music playing low in the background while reading a good fiction book.

If playing music is too distracting while you read then just leave it out and enjoy the candle and a good book.

2. Grapefruit + Music

Haha you should’ve known this was coming!

I absolutely love music!

I don't know where I would be without it honestly. From motivational music to just relaxing instrumentals. I can honestly listen to music all day.

Which brings us to the second routine on our list.

Listening to music while burning your favorite candle is another excellent way to relax after a long day.

Try listening to instrumentals while you burn a grapefruit candle to help pick you up when you’re feeling stressed out and overwhelmed.

3. Eucalyptus + a Bath

Yeah, this one definitely isn’t for everyone. But I mean come on. We can all enjoy a good bath every once in a while right?

Anyways, this is a really good way to clear your mind after a crazy day.

Try soaking in a warm bath with a few drops of eucalyptus essential oils and a eucalyptus peppermint candle burning in the background.

If you really wanna relax. You can try combining everything on this list with a glass of wine (or whiskey 🥃 😈) to help you find the peace you need.

And there you have it, 3 simple things you can do to help yourself wind down after a stressful day.

I hope this list helps you relax! If you have any relaxing tips to share, please comment below.

Sometimes what works for you may also help someone else relax!

As always, with love,

Steven
