7 Health Benefits of Lemongrass Essential Oil You Probably Didn't Know About

Fall is honestly one of the most beautiful seasons!

The transition from summer to winter is truly mesmerizing and is why it is my favorite time of the year.

You get some unbelievably incredible weather.

People are in a much better mood because the holiday season is just around the corner, and if you’re lucky enough, you get to spend a lot more time with the ones you love.

However, with great weather also comes seasonal allergies.

If you have seasonal allergies then you know just how fast your allergies can ruin your day.

One moment you’re enjoying a nice cloudy day wrapped up in a blanket binge watching your favorite show with a cup of warm hot chocolate,

and the next you can have a sneeze attack that leaves you wishing you no longer even had a nose.

Seasonal allergies are no joke, especially in the fall, and that is why I wanted to write this blog post.

You see, many people talk about eucalyptus and/or peppermint essential oil and how they are the perfect essential oils to help clear up your allergy symptoms and make it easier for you to breathe.

But what if there was an even better and more versatile essential oil out there that could not only clear up your allergy symptoms, but also help you with; reducing stress, boosting you immune system, relieving your headache, helps to ease your digestion problems, and even easing your menstrual cramps?

And what if I told you that this underrated essential oil is probably something that you already have in your collection?

The essential oil I am talking about here is lemongrass, and in this blog post I will talk about 7 health benefits that lemongrass essential oil provides that you might not have known about.

As I mentioned earlier, seasonal allergies can be a real pain.

From what seems like a never ending runny nose and constant sneezing to watery eyes and just wishing it would end.

Lemongrass essential oil is a great essential oil to help you ease some of your allergy symptoms.

You can diffuse the essential oil in a diffuser, burn the oil in a candle, or even sip on some lemongrass tea to help clear up your sinus congestion.

One thing I like to do when my allergies really start to bother me is to burn an essential oil candle (pretty close to where I am sitting) and sip on some lemongrass tea to help calm my allergies.

This method gives you the best of both worlds by hitting two of your senses at once.

Reduce Stress

Stress is a common problem for a lot of people and is often times the main cause for a lot of our health problems.

For example, did you know that stress can also make your allergy symptoms worse?

Stress is your body’s natural response to certain situations that happen both inside and outside which results in your nervous system attempting to make adjustments in response to that stress.

When you’re stressed out, your body will then release hormones and other chemicals that eventually leads to your allergy symptoms.

So managing your stress is incredibly important.

Lemongrass is an amazing essential oil to help you manage your stress.

The calming scent of lemongrass helps to provide you with some mental clarity and is known for its ability to ease your mind when you’re feeling irritable.

One of the best ways to use lemongrass essential oil to reduce stress is a diy project.

The next time you notice yourself starting to feel stressed out, or if you know that during the holiday season your are going to start feeling stressed, create a lemongrass massage oil or body lotion.

Having your own lemongrass massage oil to have your loved one give you a massage while also burning a candle in the background is a wonderful way to help ease your mind (especially before bed).

Boost Your Immune System

Having something that can boost your immune system is critical. Especially right now during the covid-19 pandemic.

Your health is so important to your success and the way you function. Your body is your temple and it deserves the right amount of nutrients, sleep, and exercise so that it can operate at its best.

Now depending on how bad your headaches get, these can often times be worse than seasonal allergies. Nothing else puts a damper on your plans like a headache.

The constant pounding you feel in your head is something that isn’t to be messed with.

Lemongrass is a great oil to help relieve some of the pain and tension you feel when you have a headache.

To use lemongrass to ease your headache, try massaging your temples with a diluted lemongrass essential oil roll-on while also burning a candle in the background.

The calming scent of lemongrass will help to relax your mind and body and help ease the tension.

Digestive Problems

One of the most frustrating things that I have been dealing with over the past few months besides my allergies is my digestive problems.

As of late, my stomach has not been able to digest certain foods like it used to resulting in some serious gas irritation.

If you have had this then you know just how frustrating it can be.

Lemongrass helps to relieve the pain from gas irritation which as you know can be a gift from up above!

By adding lemongrass oil to your tea or soup, you can help to improve your stomach irritation and stop worrying about certain foods irritating your stomach.
