3 Unbelievably Easy Ways to Help Your Relax Your Mind When Feeling Overwhelmed

During such busy times it can be hard to even think about finding time for yourself.

Between your crazy work schedule, side hustle, family time, and your social life.

It can be difficult to set aside some “me” time to just do you and relax.

However it is critical that you do in order to perform at your best.

Think about it this way.

If you have a spring that is coiled up super tight and you just keep trying to wind it up. Eventually that spring is going explode.

Just like the spring, you can’t keep loading your plate with more work and no release.

Eventually you will explode and you’re going to take out that frustration on whoever or whatever is in sight.

Whether that be loved ones, the dog, or that pen your holding.

Stacking your plate with more and more work without setting time aside to relax is incredibly unhealthy. (Trust me I learned this the hard way)

As I’m sure you have as well.

This is why I have decided to write this blog post.

I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to set aside some time to relax so that you can give your mind a break from all that work and come back stronger and more focused.

But before we get started, I wanted to share with you a quick story about me and why you should even be listening to me.

Back in 2015 I had a minor heart attack that literally scared me straight (you know, like the show).

I had become addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs due to high stress and social anxiety.

I had just launched my first online business while I was attending the University of South Florida (go bulls!)

I was so determined to make it work that I had given up any personal time to relax or even do some of the things that I loved doing like going to the gym or playing basketball with some friends.

Soon I found myself in the hospital realizing that I needed to make some serious changes.

I then decided to start focusing more on my health and to make it more of a priority instead of solely focusing on work and making money.

I dedicated my time to learning as much as I could about holistic health and aromatherapy so that I could use it to help me relieve stress.

And now I want to share that information with you!

In this blog post, I am going to provide you with 3 simple tips to help you relax your mind so that you can avoid burning yourself out and start making your health a priority.

Okay, let's get to it!


There are a variety of different meditation practices that you can adopt to help you relax.

The most important thing to think about when deciding on what form of meditation you want to adopt really depends on what you are trying to get out of your meditation.

Are you looking to reduce the feeling of anger, frustration or resentment?

Well then you should try loving kindness meditation.

Are you looking more of trying to reduce negative emotions and emotional reactions?

Then maybe you should try mindfulness meditation.

There are a variety of different ways to meditate, and you do not just have to practice one form.

In this blog post, I am going to talk about mindful meditation.

Mindful Meditation is the practice of being more aware and living in the present moment to avoid dwelling on the past or dreading the future.

This is one of my favorite forms of meditation because you can literally do it anywhere.

To practice mindful meditation, you can start by being aware of your breathing.

You can do this by reciting a mantra with every breath you take. Something as easy as “breathe in” and “breathe out” will suffice.

By doing this, it helps you take your mind off of whatever it is that is troubling your mind at the moment and it becomes incredibly easy to help you refocus when your mind starts to drift.


This one can be tricky because it depends solely on you and how much time you are willing to give yourself to workout.

I personally like to go to the gym for strength training in the morning.

The rush I feel in the gym when I workout really helps me take my mind off of work.

There is honestly no better feeling than when you get a good, hard workout in.

That euphoric feeling you get after your workout just makes you feel so much better about yourself and really brightens up your day.

Now, some people prefer running over strength training, and others prefer to do a home workout in a more private setting. (Or just because they just don’t have the time to go to the gym).

Whatever suits your needs, and your schedule. That's what you do. 

The key here is to be consistent and to help you take a mental break (especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed).

It would be pointless to force yourself to do something you don’t even enjoy.

Whatever exercise you decide to do you should enjoy it and look forward to doing it.


Remember how I said you can practice mindful meditation anywhere?

Well it works even better while you're walking outside enjoying nature!

Mother Nature is incredibly beautiful and it would be a waste if all we did was spend majority of our life cooped up in the office working or sitting on the couch watching TV.

Whenever you feel stressed out, get up and go take a walk outside. To take it to another level and to help yourself get grounded.

Go outside and walk barefoot.

Practice being present in the moment by challenging yourself to use all 5 of your senses to identify what it is that you are experiencing.

Can you hear the birds chirping during your walk?

How does the cool breeze feel as it blows past your face?

Practice using all 5 of your senses to see what you can come up with during your walk.

It is a pretty fun challenge that will help you take a break from work and relieve your stress.
