3 Essential Oils to Help Relieve Muscle Soreness

Working out, and getting more exercise is always one of the top New Year's Resolutions heading into the new year.

I know it usually is for me. Right after the holiday season and all the bad/unhealthy eating habits that I picked up. The new year is usually when I decide to get back to my workout routine and stay consistent.

However, one thing that quickly follows and often puts a halt to the new year grind is muscle soreness.

And depending on how consistently you go to the gym. This muscle soreness can really affect how your body performs during the rest of the week.

If it’s been too long since your last gym session and you go too hard when you get back, that muscle pain can sometimes stop you from going to the gym as many times as you originally planned during the week.

Now there are a variety of different pain relievers that you can try to help with those sore muscles.

For example, you can try foam rolling (which I am a huge fan of and highly recommend), or one of those fancy massage guns (which I have yet to try).

But as the title for this blog post suggest. We are going to be talking about how essential oils can help you relieve muscle pain and tension so that you can get back in the gym and kick butt.

Let’s get right to it!

Chamomile Oil

Now, there are a variety of different essential oils that you can use for muscle pain.

But the first one I want to talk about is Roman Chamomile. This essential oil helps to soothe muscle tension and can be great at reducing muscle spasms.

Roman Chamomile has a very nice calming effect on both the mind and body and will work wonders with helping you to relax and recover after an intense workout.

Birch Oil

Birch essential oil is another oil that provides you with a very nice cooling sensation after your workout.

The cooling effect you get from using this oil kind of feels like when you first put on icy hot. Not the hot part, but more of the cool part that helps to reduce pain.

Side note: If you can't get your hands on Birch oil, Eucalyptus and/or peppermint would be a great substitute.

Siberian Fir Oil

This is another essential oil that provides a nice soothing effect on the body.

However, this oil is best used during a massage so if you don’t have a loved one who is willing to give you a nice massage after your workout.

Then the next best thing is to just simply go get a massage and take this oil with you.

Tell your massage therapist to use this essential oil during the massage and your body will feel 10x better!

All of these oils can be used topically during a massage or with one of our essential oil roll-ons.

When using essential oils topically, make sure to mix the oil with a carrier oil like jojoba oil or grape seed oil. Both of these oils are lightweight, have a neutral scent, and can be easily absorbed by the skin.
